"Nude with Bird of Paradise" by Demetre H. Chiparus (1886–1947)

Femme à l'oiseau du paradis (Woman with Bird of Paradise) or Nu à l'oiseau (Nude with Bird) by the Romanian Art Deco sculptor Demétre H. Chiparus (1886–1947). Demétre H. Chiparus was a prominent sculptor of the Art Deco era, known for his chryselephantine sculptures, which combined bronze and ivory, and his elegant figurines depicting dancers and theatrical figures. The sculpture embodies the Art Deco style, characterized by its elegant, decorative, and often stylized forms. The artwork depicts a reclining female figure, often associated with a bird, such as a bird of paradise or a parrot, as seen in other related works by Chiparus.

The piece is signed "D.H Chiparus" (1886-1947) and measures: 28" x 17.25" x 12".
