A 18/19th Century terra cotta bust sculpture of a bishop with wax seal.

The sculpture depicts a solemn-faced, older male figure, a bishop, from the chest up. He is wearing a mitre (the tall, pointed hat worn by bishops) which is decorated with a textured pattern and two prominent green, cabochon-style ornaments on the front. He also wears a cope or chasuble, which features a detailed, carved geometric or triangular relief pattern across the chest.
The realistic and intense expression of the face, combined with the detailed vestments, is characteristic of late Gothic or early Renaissance (15th-16th century) Continental European sculpture, possibly from Flanders, France, or the German-speaking regions.
The sculpture shows some signs of age.
