A French Napoleon III-period cave à liqueur, also known as a tantalus liquor box or cabinet. Inside, it is fitted with a removable tray / frame designed to hold a set of engraved or etched glass decanters and cordial or liqueur glasses, often made of crystal. Cave à liqueurs were popular in the 19th century as elegant and often lockable containers for serving and storing alcoholic beverages.
