A Large 19th-Century French Champleve Enamel and Bronze VaseBy Ferdinand Barbedienne, Paris, circa 1880.This impressive baluster-form vase is finely executed in champleve enamel on bronze, richly decorated with scrolling foliate and floral motifs in vibrant tones of cobalt blue, turquoise & crimson set against a luminous yellow ground. The body is fitted with two elegantly curved handles and raised on a circular pedestal base en suite, similarly enamelled.Signed “F. Barbedienne” on the base & the rim of the plate, the vase exemplifies the exceptional quality and craftsmanship associated with Barbedienne’s workshop during the late 19th century, reflecting the firm’s mastery of decorative arts inspired by Renaissance and Islamic revival aesthetics.H:12".
