A Large Persian Handmade Tray By Mehdi Alamdary
Persian tinned copper tray or wall plate, created using a combination of repoussé (hammered from the reverse to create a raised design) and engraving techniques.
The item is made of copper, which has been plated with tin to give it a silver appearance. The detailed figures and ornate patterns are created through ghalamzani (chasing or engraving) and repoussé. The central image depicts a narrative scene with several bearded figures and a winged figure, possibly an angel or a mythological creature, beneath a tree. One figure on the right holds a crescent moon or similar object aloft. The central scene is surrounded by multiple ornate borders featuring intricate floral, leaf, and scroll motifs, which are typical of regional Islamic art styles.
